Listen NowThe framework isn't about fancy prompts or secret tricks. It's about understanding how AI thinks and structuring your communication to get better results every single time.
AI needs the full picture. Learn what context matters and how to provide it efficiently.
Define boundaries and formats upfront. Specificity eliminates guesswork and improves output.
Better results come from treating AI as a thinking partner, not a magic box.
Tell AI how you want the answer formatted. JSON, markdown, lists—clarity wins.
Never start from scratch. PromptPack's Layer 0 provides PICKUP.md and DEPENDENCIES.md—handoff files that let every session pick up exactly where the last one left off. Combined with 9 collaboration rules learned from real project failures, your AI work compounds over time instead of resetting with each conversation.
PICKUP.md
Instantly restore context and decisions from your last session.
DEPENDENCIES.md
Map project dependencies so nothing falls through the cracks.
9 Collaboration Rules
Prevent common AI project failures with battle-tested practices.
PromptPack uses plain markdown files — no plugins, no integrations, no vendor lock-in. If your AI can read text, it can use PromptPack.
Pro and Team tiers include an installable Claude skill file that automatically teaches Claude the entire PromptPack methodology. Once installed, Claude follows the framework without being asked — it enforces progressive disclosure, maintains session continuity, catches anti-patterns, and writes PICKUP.md at the end of every session.
The templates tell Claude what to fill in. The skill tells Claude how to behave. Together, they turn Claude into an AI that already knows your workflow.
I'm Matt Buscher — a self-taught software developer, electrical engineer, and mechanical engineer with over 40 years of building and leading technology companies. I've founded multiple companies, served as chief technology advisor to more than six startups, and spent 35+ years in executive management teaching managers how to manage people, processes, and teams.
My lifelong love for systems and processes became my career. I've hired and fired hundreds of people. In the last four years, I started deploying AI across my companies and to public libraries — and fired every major chatbot platform along the way. Then I saw the pattern: AI fails for the exact same reasons human teams fail. I stopped firing platforms when I realized the problem was never the platform. It was the workflow.
Forty years brought me full circle. I spent a career teaching people how to manage. Now I'm teaching AI how to be managed. It's the same lesson. PromptPack is the system I built to prove it.
PromptPack is a project management framework for AI-assisted work. It provides structured markdown templates that give AI tools the context, direction, and continuity they need to produce consistent results across multiple sessions. Rather than treating each AI conversation as a standalone interaction, PromptPack organizes your AI work into a persistent project structure that compounds over time. It works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or any AI that reads text.
Progressive disclosure is a 6-layer system for loading only the information your AI needs at each stage of work. Layer 0 establishes project identity and constraints. Layers 1 through 5 progressively add planning, specifications, design, execution, and quality. Instead of dumping everything into one massive prompt, you feed your AI structured context in stages — preventing context overload, keeping responses focused, and making complex projects manageable.
Every AI chat starts with a blank slate. When you close a session, the context, decisions, and progress vanish. Without a system for capturing session state and loading it into the next conversation, you waste time re-explaining your project, lose past decisions, and get inconsistent results. PromptPack solves this with PICKUP.md — a structured handoff document that records where you left off, what was decided, and what to do next — so every session resumes instantly. Prompt engineering focuses on writing better individual prompts. PromptPack focuses on the system around the prompts — how your project is structured, how context persists between sessions, how you prevent scope creep and context collapse over weeks of work. It applies project management principles to AI collaboration: the same practices that make human teams deliver (clear context, clear direction, structured handoffs) make AI deliver too.
PromptPack uses a canonical folder structure with six directories: context (specifications and background), product (deliverables), constraints (tech stack and quality standards), execution (roadmap and progress), quality (tests and metrics), and skills (reusable patterns). Every project follows the same layout, making it searchable, shareable, and scalable — whether you're working solo or across a team. Read the full guide →
PromptPack is built from real experience and real feedback. Have a question, a feature request, or a story about how you're using the framework? I'd love to hear it.

AI chat tools forget everything when you close a session. Learn why context loss happens, why bigger context windows don't fix it, and how structured handoff documents like PICKUP.md solve the problem.
